Two Queen Stools
The two queen stools were placed on the right and left side of the throne and occupied by the two senior wives of the king during ceremonies.
Each stool is different and reflects the number of male and female children born to either queen.
On a circular, decorated base, and standing on the heads of ancestors are five children of each queen.
Three females and two males on one stool, and four males and one female on the other one. They are holding up the beautifully ornamented platform of the seat.
The individual treatment of each of the queens’ stools, the imagery on the throne itself, and the carefully ornamented seats of this set indicate that it was created for one specific ruler and not for the art market, as these throne sets are much simpler in their execution, rely on symmetry, and lack any individual characteristics.
