Toma Liberia
The PORO society governs every aspect of the lives of the Toma. This
powerful society is responsible for, among others, the initiation of the young boys who, after being isolated for several months in a forest camp where they are introduced to tribal principles and values before graduating to adulthood.
The boys suffer, during the initiation rites a ritual death (from boyhood) followed by a ritual rebirth( as adults).
