One of the most famous pieces of Baga art is the D’mba, found among The Baga groups of the Sitemu and their neighbors the Pukur, and the Bulunits.
The gigantic headdress is worn with a raffia costume and cloth.
It is known by the name of D’mba to the Bulunits, by the name of Yamban to the Baga Pukur, and by the name of Nimba by the Baga Sitemu.
The D’mba is always female, but male versions have occasionally been observed, which suggests that this mask crosses gender lines.
